Metabolic Therapy Using Vitamin B17 (Amygdalin/Laetrile)

What is metabolic therapy?
Metabolic therapy, simply, is the use of natural food products and vitamin to prevent and treat cancer by building a strong immune system. In cancer treatment, metabolic therapy uses Vitamin B17, proteolytic pancreatic enzymes, immuno-stimulants, and vitamin and mineral supplements and thus is a non-toxic treatment. Metabolism is the total function of our body. In order for our body to function properly, all its attributes (physical, mental and spiritual) must work in harmony.  All these attributes are utilised in order to provide our human organism the best environment to combat diseases and regain health. Total care is the goal of metabolic therapy.

What is Vitamin B17?
Vitamin B17, also known as Laetrile, is the chief anti-tumor agent. t is a natural chemotherapeutic agent found in over 1,200 plants, but the greatest concentration is found in the seeds of rosaceous fruits such as apricot seed (kernels) and other bitter nuts. There are many seeds, cereals and vegetables that contain minimal quantities of vitamin B17 and form part of our daily diet. Vitamin B17 is water soluble and non-toxic.Vitamin B17 is also a diglucoside with cynide radical that is highly 'bio-accessible', i.e. penetrates through the cellular membrane reaching high intra-cellular concentrations easily. This type of cynide radical is also contained in Vitamin B12, and in berries such as blackberries, blueberries and strawberries. Following discussions on the action of B17 in this metabolic therapy explain that cynide radical in B17 is completely safe and non-toxic.

How does Vitamin B17 work in metabolic therapy of cancer treatment?

The following figure illustrates the action between cancer cells (tophoblast) and Vitamin B17 in the metabolic therapy.

Cancer cells, no matter the type of cancer, are known as Trophoblasts and contain an enzyme called beta-glucosidase (unlocking enzyme). In our body, only cancer cells contain this enzyme of beta-glucosidase! When Vitamin B17 (laetrile) comes in contact with the enzyme (beta-glucosidase), it (Vitamin B17) is broken down to form two molecules of glucose i.e. benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide (HCN). Only the enzyme beta-glucosidade is capable of manufacturing hydrogen cyanide from laetrile. As only cancer cells contain beta-glucosidase, there will be no hydrogen cyanide being formed from laetrile if there is no beta-glucosidase.

Normal cells in our organism contain an enzyme called Rhodanese which neutralises the laetrile. This enzyme does not allow Vitamin B17 to release hydrogen cyanide. In this way, laetrile only serves as glucose to healthy cells providing energy.

Malignant cells (tumor cells) do not contain this Rhodanese enzyme. In the absence of Rhodanese enzyme, laetrile is activated liberating the cyanide radical inside the malignant (tumor) cell causing its destruction, i.e. detoxification of cyanide. In mamalian tissue (including us human being!), the action of Rhodanese, with the presence of sulphur-bearing compounds, converts free cyanide to thiocyanate, a perfectly non-toxic compound and excreted in the urine. Only cancer cells are destroyed but normal ones are not affected. As laetrile attacks unhealthy cells, it transform into a silicate (like aspirin) contributing greatly to pain control.
